When it helps

Define the current best-known method, sequence, time and conditions required for repeatable execution.

Data and preparation

Work sequence, time, standard WIP, checks and safety/quality conditions

Practical workflow

  1. Observe the real method, not only the written procedure.
  2. Define sequence and critical criteria.
  3. Test the method with operators.
  4. Display/control the standard version.
  5. Update the standard after confirmed improvement.

Connection to AIAG

This is a supporting Continuous Improvement method, not an AIAG Core Tool. In QAPP, findings can feed a CQI-20/8D problem-solving workflow and, when the process risk/control changes, trigger review of PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA/SPC or other applicable Core Tool records.

Interpretation limits

Do not use the tool as a ritual. Define a measurable problem, baseline and decision rule, then verify whether the change improved the process without creating another risk.
