When it helps

Link replenishment to actual consumption using explicit signals and visible limits.

Data and preparation

Consumption, replenishment lead time, lot/container, capacity, variability and rules

Practical workflow

  1. Define the replenishment loop.
  2. Measure consumption and replenishment time.
  3. Set initial quantity/signal and exception rules.
  4. Pilot in a controlled area.
  5. Adjust signals using real data.

Connection to AIAG

This is a supporting Continuous Improvement method, not an AIAG Core Tool. In QAPP, findings can feed a CQI-20/8D problem-solving workflow and, when the process risk/control changes, trigger review of PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA/SPC or other applicable Core Tool records.

Interpretation limits

Do not use the tool as a ritual. Define a measurable problem, baseline and decision rule, then verify whether the change improved the process without creating another risk.
